Transcending Leadership Center (TLC) is dedicated to advancing the success and well-being of the transfeminine community of Queens, NY, by providing personalized navigational services that directly address the web of structural marginalization, offering trans-competent employment training, and vital migrant support services to stabilize their lives. Our approach centers on economic and immigration justice—disrupting cycles of precarity, reducing reliance on unsafe survival work, and directly mitigating devastating associated health risks, moving us toward a long-term goal of holistic health and safety for the community.

TLC was founded to combat gender identity-based discrimination by providing intensive, individualized advocacy and case management services to members of the trans community across New York City.

Economic Justice

Focuses on the fundamental resources and skills necessary for the economic stability and independence of the trans community members TLC serves. It addresses the systemic barriers that prevent individuals from securing employment and meeting their basic needs.

Immigration Justice

Through this program, TLC staff are dedicated to providing specialized, affirming support to clients navigating the complex legal and bureaucratic landscape of immigration. Given the disproportionate impact of immigration issues on trans and gender non-conforming people, this is a critical area for securing safety and legal status.

Public Health

Our public health program encompasses all services related to the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of our clients. It acknowledges that health is a prerequisite for stability and takes a holistic approach by providing direct emotional support while ensuring access to specialized, affirming medical care.
